Book review 1 - 找回快乐,不需要改变人生

in case people don't know, i love reading. haha
anyways, got this book by chance when I was shopping for my 2013 organizer, walked past it and just found it very 'me' haha.
the author is taiwanese i assumed la. i love the many 'quotes' like phrases in the book and small tips at the end of each short chapter to be happy.

even the titles for each chapter are quite thought provoking such as 人生一路走来都是亏欠。Direct translation would be we all owe debts as we walk our paths. it's true isn't it, the moment we are born we owe our parents, and as we grow we owe friends, lovers, siblings, family and even passerbys. So, the best way to repay is to live well, if not we will do wrong to those who sacrificed for us.

i would put it on par with Tuesdays with Morrie, coz this author shared alot of stories about herself, the death of her mom and life in general.

maybe at my age, when death is quietly creeping up around me, i felt more aware of it? heh.

of coz, not saying that i fear death la. it's a natural progression of life i suppose. just.... = shrugs=

to end off, would be with one of the phrases in the book,
人生这条路需要我们去探索,并不断持续下去, 只要你相信路的尽头不是尽头,可能是另一个起点,你所面临的人生将绘然不同。

Travel : Tioman August 2012

went to Tioman during the season of raya. and i don't recommand it. lol~ all the malay food places are closed, no ramly! =< oh wells.
truth is, i've been to Tioman lots of times, and i googled reviews on Tioman and some i feel didn't do justice to it.
there are many resorts on the island and i've been to a couple over the years, maybe just a quick summary on those that i've been to?

Paya Beach: been there the most number of times because it's more affordable and tourist friendly as in food wise and some touristy shopping. duty free alcohol is available on most islands so i'm not counting that in. Beach wise, over a 100m long? dunno how to guage but not too bad, snorkelling is good, there's some rocks within swimming distance and if you're lucky u can spot the resident sea turtle feeding there. I've seen stingrays there too. but that's off the reef, get a strong swimmer to accompany you if you are not very confident in the waters. There rock falls behind the resort also, so can do abit of trekking.

Panuba: it's a very short beach with only one resort, the panuba Inn, found it by chance during a travel fair and  that i manage to book it, and afterwards i lost the contact. whoops. anyway, think they only accept 4pax min per booking. The adventure then was that u can actually trek to another beach, call the ABC beach, the trek was quite fun, =) like jumping down the huge rocks and stuff. keke.

alright, enough babbling, in short, Tioman is my special place <3 p="p">

ahgirl went on this trip with me too. =D
at Tanjong Gemok (sp?) waiting for the ferry
decided to walk ard the perimeters of the place because we had time to kill
As it was the Raya period, there are stalls set up across the road selling some kueh and stuff.
in the ferry, almost reaching Tioman
Lunchtime at the chinese run resturant where they share their wifi
To the Rock Falls
Tadah!
Paya Beach Resort
another shot.
sunset at paya beach
Chilling and just getting a tan.
Danger lurking........
AH! KILLER!
Dead. ok. I have no idea why i so morbid. but random me do random things. lol

What's a holiday at the beach without jumpshots?

Revived.
the zi char at the chinese resturant. whoops, we finished eating liao
bye Tioman, Till we meet again.
snorkelling pic =)
everyone look the same with the mask la. lol

Travel: Taiwan June 2012

went for a company retreat to TW for 4 days, =)
went there after the flooding situation and pretty amazed by the taiwanese resilience against all the natural disasters they have to deal with year in and year out. awesome people.

in the plane flying over East Coast Park, one of those ships docking there.

Our coach when we arrived in TW,
our guide for the next couple of days, Xiao Li, inspiring guy, =)

first stop: some dam in Tao Yuan, sorry can't remember the name, but it was huge and mega impressive.
to have the gates open means that there is too much water and it's a bad thing. =<

at the other side of the dam, used to have 3 villages underneath the waters, but have to be flooded becoz they wanted to build the dam.

went to their lao jie, (old street) and bought this black sugar bun at like 10 tw dollars, very nice!

small cakes that's very nice and value for money! the friendly uncle actually was posing for me, haha.

i was on a mass eating spree, the cake from the uncle above and onigiri from their 7-11, super yummy!

went to their pottery museum and had a hands on session with clay.

demonstration on making a dumpling bell.

i made a cup in the end with ahgirl design, sadly, it didn't survived the transport back home, broke it. =<

liu fu chun, Six Luck Village, a theme park somewhere between tao yuan and tai chung?

 madness with colleague

went to visit the temple that survive the massive earthquake that hit taiwan some years back. it was a 3 stories building but the level 1 was flattened. the amazing part of this was no one who was in the temple was hurt whereas the surrounding buildings were all flattened.

went to feng jia night market.

food there was very good, curry fishballs, and hei che lun, (black wheels) soemthing like yong tou fu in Sg, but u can get pig's blood and other organs here if u like.
it doesn't have the piggie smell as compared to china (no offence). pretty acceptable and big portions too.
Tip: better to travel in groups of 4s, as the food portions tend to be quite big.

went for hot spring.

what their room look like. basically a bath tub and u only need to mix the spring water and cold water to your liking.

Fisherman's Wharf

went to DanShui after that, and had their signature 'ah geh' and fishball soup. yums!

their da chang bao xiao chang, it is glutinous rice and sausage.

random landscape

on the way to WuLai

was suppose to take a train up to the village but it had stopped functioning a few months before we arrived, thus had to climb up the mountain.

the waterfall

one of their tribal design.

Last but not least, Teipei 101

cost for me on this trip was like sgd$200 coz it's a company trip! keke!
